Ready, JET, Go!Team Info Established in 2004, Ready JET Go! is an enthusiastic, multicultural group of 25 paddlers ranging in age from 25 to 38 with diverse professional backgrounds in areas such as Education, IT, Marketing and Engineering. The team is proud to be coached by Kevin Thien, an accomplished veteran of dragon boating with 11 years of experience. Most of our members were participants in the Japanese Exchange and Teaching (JET) program administered by the Government of Japan. We have worked and travelled extensively overseas, bringing a unique mix of camaraderie and passion for competition that has led to our rising success as a team. Come on out and cheer us on at these events around town! We'd love to meet more alumni, and check out what we do to represent the JET spirit! JETAABC's Dragon Boat team practices on Wednesdays at 7:15PM, and Saturdays 8:15AM starting in early March and wrap up our season in mid-September after Kelowna Dragon Boat Festival. Vancouver Dragon Boating History The Alcan Dragon Boat Festival was inaugurated in 1986 with the opening of Expo ’86. Since then, the festival has grown to become one of the largest and most competitive regattas worldwide. Dragon boat regattas have since developed throughout BC, including Victoria, Kelowna and Harrison Hot Springs. The team’s participation in many exciting regattas throughout the province has greatly enhanced their performance and established ties within the local community. Ready JET Go’s strong commitment, excellent team work, and solidarity on the water creates an exciting and dynamic force which has become well respected throughout the Dragon Boat community of British Columbia. |
